Cookie policy

A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations we have to ask before setting anything that is not strictly necessary — which is what the banner on your first visit is for.

Strictly necessary

These are set without asking, because the site cannot work without them. They do not track you.

• cc_cookie — remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask again on every page. Set by us, kept for six months.

Analytics — only if you accept

If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 tells us which pages people read and how they arrived. We use it to work out what is useful and what is not. It is set to anonymise your IP address, and we do not use it for advertising.

• _ga — distinguishes one visitor from another. Kept for two years.
• _ga_<id> — keeps session state. Kept for two years.

Until you accept, Google Consent Mode holds analytics storage in a denied state and nothing is written.

Changing your mind

You can change your choices at any time using the button below. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings, though that will also clear your saved preference and the banner will appear again.
