What makes it purified
Everything taken out, so nothing is left behind.
Purified water is mains water with the dissolved minerals removed. Nothing added, nothing left to dry on.
Mains water carries dissolved minerals — calcium, magnesium, salts, picked up from the ground it travelled through. In Lincolnshire there are a lot of them: it is a hard water region, and mains supply here typically runs 250–350 parts per million [confirm].
Those minerals do not evaporate. Whatever the water touches, they stay behind on — as scale inside a steriliser or a heat exchanger, as a film on glass and paint, as drift in a dilution that was supposed to be the same every time.
Take them out and the problem goes with them. Our water reads zero on a TDS meter, which is the whole point: there is nothing in it to leave behind.
What it is not
This is process and cleaning grade purified water. It is not drinking water, and it is not laboratory-distilled or pharmaceutical grade. If your method specifies a water grade, check it against what we supply before you order — and tell us, so we can be straight with you about whether we are the right supply.

How it is made
Two stages, then a reading.

Reverse osmosis
Mains water is pushed through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure. The membrane passes water and holds back the dissolved solids, taking the bulk of them out in one step.

Deionising resin
What the membrane leaves behind is picked up by ion-exchange resin, which swaps the remaining mineral ions for hydrogen and hydroxide. That finishes the water at zero.

Read and filled
A TDS meter reads the output at the filling point before anything leaves the plant. [Confirm whether a reading or certificate is issued with each order.]
